Working Mother Magazine Names Astellas Among 100 Best Companies in the US Across All Industries
Astellas ranked for its commitment and support of working mothers

NORTHBROOK, Ill., Sept. 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Astellas was named one of Working Mother Magazine's 100 Best Companies in the U.S. for its commitment to establishing a corporate culture supportive of working moms and their families. The 100 Best Companies is featured in the October/November issue of Working Mother and on workingmother.com.

Astellas was named one of Working Mother Magazine's 100 Best Companies in the U.S. for 2016.

This marks Astellas' second consecutive appearance in Working Mother's collection of top workplaces. Recognized for leadership in hiring, developing and promoting working mothers across the organization, Astellas continuously strives to provide working mothers with strong work-life benefits, including paid family care leave, maternity/paternity leave and flexible work options.

"This year's class of winning companies goes the extra mile to support working moms and all diverse families," said Subha Barry, vice president, general manager, Working Mother Media. "The Working Mother 100 Best Companies continue to pave the way for employers nationwide to support their employees, both personally and professionally."

"We have made a concerted effort to build a culture that empowers working parents to raise their children without sacrificing success in their careers or their families," said Collette Taylor, senior vice president, Human Resources at Astellas. "Through programs allowing working parents to telecommute, flex their schedules and provide benefits for their children, our employees have the support they need to plan for today, tomorrow and beyond."

For Seema Gorla, M.D., senior director and global group lead of aggregate safety assessment, Pharmacovigilance, and caregiver for three children and aging parents, Astellas' flexible scheduling, benefits and the telecommuting options have helped her succeed at work and at home.

"My success as a working mother can be attributed to three important factors: supportive family and friends, a collaborative and dedicated global team and the flexibility and support afforded to me by Astellas," Gorla said.
