Astellas Named a “Best of the Best” Employer by Three DiversityComm Publications

NORTHBROOK, Ill., March 15, 2017 - Astellas has been named a “Best of the Best” employer in the Healthcare, Pharmaceutical and Biotech sector by several leading diversity-focused magazines published by DiversityComm, Inc. (DCI). DCI is dedicated to the advancement of all aspects of business and employment to ensure equal opportunity in the workplace.

Professional Woman’s Magazine has listed Astellas as a “Best of the Best” employer for the third consecutive year. Since 2015, Astellas has been recognized by multiple organizations for advancing a culture that empowers and promotes its female employee base. As part of these efforts, Astellas hosted Women in Action 2016 - a unique conference that connected more than 1,600 attendees including female employees of Astellas Americas, teen guests, industry representatives and select Astellas male executives to inspire leadership and confidence, overcome challenges and succeed by making meaningful contributions.

The Black Equal Opportunity Employment Journal will recognize Astellas as a top employer in April for the second time. Since 2014, the African American ERG (AAERG) has celebrated Black History Month each February with different installations at Astellas’ headquarters for the Americas in Northbrook recognizing influential members of the black community. This past February, AAERG kicked off the month by hosting “A Place for All People,” a traveling poster exhibit from the new Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Finally, in May, Hispanic Network Magazine will name Astellas to their “Best of the Best” list. This, again, marks the company’s second appearance on the list. In October 2016, Astellas’ Hispanic ERG celebrated Hispanic Heritage month and hosted the first-ever Consortium of Latino Employee Organizations (CLEO) meeting at Astellas’ headquarters for the Americas. CLEO is a network focusing on the exchange of ideas and attracting and retaining Latino talent.

“Maintaining our presence on these annual lists highlights our commitment to diversity and inclusion,” said Rod Christmon, senior director of human resources, diversity and inclusion officer. “Astellas is committed to being at the forefront of diversity & inclusion and we will continue looking for ways to ensure this is a reality for all employees.”
