At Astellas, celebrating fathers and their important role as parents and caregivers extends beyond a single annual holiday. Throughout the year, Astellas offers fathers important familial benefits such as our flexible paternity leave policy, allowing new parents to focus on their families. Astellas is also an active supporter of men’s health, engaging in advocacy and fundraising activities that raise awareness of the health challenges faced specifically by men.
In honor of Father’s Day, read about Astellas’ contributions to men’s health and ensuring all fathers can maintain an active role in life at home.
Focusing on family
Astellas is a firm believer that family comes first, and the company’s familial policies reflect that mentality. When help is needed, Astellas supports employees to take time away from work, including time for new parents (whether birth, non-birth or adoptive) to bond with their children.
Coming back to work after a significant life change can be difficult - that’s why Astellas offers its Bridge Back to Work program. Bridge Back to Work enables fathers to use their paternity leave time flexibly so they can do what is best for them and their family. Some fathers may choose to take the entire paternity leave and come back to work full-time the following week, while others might prefer to ease back into their schedule by working a few days a week. Astellas is committed to supporting new fathers at home and in the office.
Supporting men’s health and well-being
Astellas also emphasizes overall health and wellbeing for male employees. Throughout Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in September, Astellas participates in nationwide advocacy efforts to recognize the millions of men affected by prostate cancer in the United States. Working with partners such as ZERO Prostate Cancer, Men's Health Network, Us TOO and the Prostate Health Education Network (PHEN), Astellas employees participate in activities ranging from walks/runs, discussion panels, educational summits and health screenings.
Employees also support and engage in November’s “Movember” awareness and fundraising activities for prominent men’s health issues, including prostate cancer.
