“This award solidifies that our Engagement, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts are continuing to foster a workplace for all, especially for our working parents,” said La Toya McClellan, senior director and global head of Engagement Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. “Whether employees are expecting, looking to become new parents or balancing their work life with a full household, we are proud to provide the flexibility and support needed for families to thrive at Astellas.”

Astellas’ extensive childcare benefits enable working parents to support their families while also pursuing their professional endeavors. Our StarLife program includes benefits for gender-neutral parental leave, back-up childcare, access to homework tutoring for children K – College at no cost, parental school time off and flextime. Astellas knows that sometimes parents need a little extra help and want to make it available at their fingertips. Employees have access to support for every stage of parenting, including guides, podcasts, articles, and monthly Live Talks that address subjects such as parenting teens, parenting children with special needs, and more.

To help employees expand their families, Astellas also partners with Carrot Fertility to provide all employees with the most comprehensive fertility benefits that cover all paths to parenthood, including adoption, gestational carrier arrangements, fertility treatments, and pregnancy.

To further support family-forming efforts, Astellas offers parents an Adoption Reimbursement of $25,000 per adoption and up to a lifetime max of $50,000. Astellas also provides eight weeks of parental leave for baby bonding paid at 100% base salary, that can be taken in one block of eight weeks or two blocks of four weeks, to give all parents the opportunity to strengthen family ties and promote healthier babies.

Since its inception in 2015, more than half of U.S. employees have used StarLife services, including backup dependent care for children and parents/parent’s in-law, college preparation services, support for children with special needs, and legal help for parents/in-laws.

We recognize that it’s just as important to take time to relax to feel recharged and ready to support our mission to deliver value to patients. Astellas offers our employees an average of 17 paid holidays, including two Heritage Days – floating days off for employees to use to honor personal days of religious, cultural, or other personal significance―and Summer and Winter Breaks. We also provide generous vacation time so that employees can enjoy meaningful time off with family, and separate sick days if they need to take care of an ill family member or just need a personal day off.

Fostering an inclusive and flexible environment will remain a key initiative for Astellas as it continues to put employees first and remain committed to supporting working parents both professionally and personally.
