ATLANTA and NORTHBROOK, Ill., Sept. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The PGA TOUR and Astellas Pharma US, Inc. ("Astellas"), a U.S. subsidiary of Tokyo-based Astellas Pharma Inc. (Tokyo: 4503), will host their 17th Astellas Presents Executive Women's Day, a day-long forum focusing on professional, health-related and personal development discussions, at the 2013 TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola in Atlanta. The event is part of the PGA TOUR's Women's Initiative and is the final Executive Women's Day program in the 2013 season.
"Astellas is thrilled to be working with the PGA TOUR to create opportunities like these for women across the country," said Pamela Buford, Director, Consumer Marketing at Astellas. "We're pleased to have reached thousands in the 2013 tournament season through Executive Women's Day and our tournament pavilion experience. We look forward to expanding the Women's Initiative presence in 2014 to include 25 tournaments and local events."
Through the PGA TOUR's Women's Initiative, The PGA TOUR and Astellas are working together to provide women with opportunities to talk and learn about health and overall well-being, and create meaningful professional development and networking opportunities. As a commitment to supporting local communities and spurring the public to take action around their personal health, the initiative aims to encourage TOUR fans to "tee up the conversation" around important health topics that are not discussed often, such as overactive bladder (OAB), which impacts over 46 million American adults, as well as around professional leadership topics.
Today's invite-only Executive Women's Day will draw over 200 local business women. The event also offers a breakfast panel, topic-specific breakout sessions and networking opportunities. Featured speakers include:
"It's such a pleasure to participate in these inspiring events for women across the country," said Fletcher, also an Atlanta native. "As part of Astellas and the TOUR's Women's Initiative, Executive Women's Day is contributing to the larger conversation around female empowerment and I'm thankful to have been able to contribute to that discussion."
Also on site at the TOUR Championship is the Astellas Women's experience. Located near the Short Range Area on the course and open to the public, the experience is an onsite meeting place for tournament fans to engage and learn about health and wellness topics. Open Thursday, Sept. 19 – Sunday, Sept. 22, it offers a unique, health-related educational experience with championship-style games and other interactive activities. Fans will also have an opportunity to "take a shot at being a news anchor," via a new activity debuting inside the Women's experience at the TOUR Championship.
