Mitobridge and Astellas Institute for Regenerative Medicine (AIRM) employees from the greater-Boston area recently joined together to show their passion for volunteerism and supporting patients in their community by participating in local events for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and American Cancer Society.
“I am so grateful that Astellas provides us with opportunities like this to get out into the community and support such wonderful organizations that make such a huge impact in the lives of patients and their families,” said Jeannette Thomas, Astellas Institute for Regenerative Medicine.
In May, 10 Mitobridge employees participated in the MDA’s Muscle Walk on the Boston Commons to help raise awareness and donations for those suffering from muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases. For the third year, Mitobridge employees joined thousands of advocates from across the country for the annual Muscle Walk to help continue the progress made in finding new treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy.
Additionally, AIRM employees came together in June to raise awareness for cancer prevention and to honor survivors through the American Cancer Society’s Bicycles Battling Cancer ride. The event consisted of 30, 50, 70, and 100 mile routes through central Massachusetts and raised over $250,000. Of this total, Astellas employees raised nearly $6,500 to help the fight against cancer.
